Ann Mass M.D.

Ann Mass M.D. received her B.A. from Barnard College.  She graduated A.O.A. (honor medical society) from Harvard Medical School.  Dr. Mass completed her training in Internal Medicine at Harbor General U.C.L.A. where she was chief resident in medicine and did fellowship work in infectious diseases.  She has had a long-standing practice in internal medicine and is on the active medical staff at Aspen Valley Hospital.  Dr. Mass is certified in clinical densitometry and is the only private practitioner in Aspen who reads bone density studies at Aspen Valley Hospital. Dr. Mass has been appointed to and serves on the Performance Review Committee at Aspen Valley Hospital.  Dr. Mass is certified in BLS, ACLS and FCCS. 

Her special interests include early detection and prevention with specific focus on cardiovascular health, infectious diseases and metabolic bone disease with an emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis.  Foremost, she likes the challenge of differential diagnosis in addressing and solving complex medical presentations with a commitment to the compassionate and respectful care of her patients.

Dr. Mass is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Colorado Medical School and is active in teaching medical students. She was instrumental in developing a relationship that has brought sub-specialists from the University of Colorado to Aspen Valley Hospital.   Our teaching program, which hosts third year medical students in our office, has been well received by our patients and has engendered high reviews at the medical school. 

Aspen Internal Medicine Consultants is one of a select number of practices on the western slope of Colorado to have been awarded a Colorado Primary Care Initiative grant from the state of Colorado.This grant provides funds for the practice to explore innovative ways of communicating with and caring for our patients.

 
 

John Murphy M.D. FACP

Dr. John Murphy is a board certified Internal Medicine specialist.  He completed his medical school education at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and went on to complete his Internal Medicine residency at the Maine Medical Center in Portland Maine where he also served as Chief Medical Resident and received Board Certification in Internal Medicine.  He was recently awarded Fellowship in the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Murphy had been practicing general Internal Medicine with Advocate Aurora medical group in the Milwaukee, WI area full time for the past 33 years during which time he also served on Medical Management Committee, ICU committee, and Internal Medicine Department chair at the local hospital.  He retired from that organization in August 2022. 

His approach is collaborative with patients and their needs, offering evidenced based information to make the best medical choices for them.  His focus is on wellness, men’s health, diagnosis, and management of chronic diseases such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, and lung disease. Dr Murphy joined Aspen Internal Medicine Consultants in January 2023 is available to see patients on a regular basis.  Call for an appointment at 970-544-1234

Stephanie Karozos, MD

Dr. Stephanie Karozos practices Integrative and Functional Medicine and acupuncture. She also has some availability as a primary care doctor at Aspen Internal Medicine Consultants.

In her Integrative and Functional Medicine consults, she offers extended visits with patients, which include a deep dive into their health history, expanded panel testing, lifestyle and nutritional recommendations, and supplement review and recommendations to identify and treat the root cause of disease. Her acupuncture evaluations and treatments involve both a traditional and musculoskeletal-based approach. She is experienced in providing evidence-based, non-pharmaceutical solutions for patients, and responsibly and safely reducing medication use when possible. She believes in actively partnering with her patients to empower them to participate in their own health, disease prevention, and healing. She enjoys helping patients whose ailments are generally considered difficult to treat, including but not limited to those with anxiety, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, PCOS, chronic fatigue and chronic pain. These services are available to all patients and are not limited to APH members.

Dr. Karozos graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 2015. She then moved to Colorado for her Family Medicine residency training at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, where she was elected chief resident. She completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at St. Anthony North Family Medicine and with the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, and is acupuncture certified through the Helms Medical Institute. She has participated in Functional Medicine training through the Institute for Functional Medicine. Dr. Karozos is board certified in both Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine.

Outside of work, she enjoys time in nature, hiking, skiing, camping, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Office appointments for integrative medicine and acupuncture will not be billed to insurance. Please contact our office for a list of services and pricing.

A mini-med is a laminated, credit card sized document that fits easily into a wallet.  It has a summary of a patient's medical record on one side and an EKG on the other side.  A mini-med is very useful for patients when traveling or accessing care in an emergency setting.   These cards are available for purchase.

Aspen Preventive Health is a practice distinct from Aspen Internal Medicine Consultants.  Patients interested in concierge services including extended annual physicals, advanced laboratory testing and increased access to our providers may be interested in joining this practice.   Aspen Preventive Health offers unique testing in areas of advanced cardiovascular risk, genomics of mood and genetically determined malignancies.  Please contact our office to discuss further aspects of this practice.
